About District

Kamle District is one of the relatively new districts in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was officially created on 15th December 2017, carved out from the Lower Subansiri and Upper Subansiri districts with the objective of improving administrative efficiency and bringing governance closer to the people of this remote region.

The district derives its name from the Kamle River, a tributary of the Subansiri River, which flows through the region and holds both geographical and cultural significance for local communities.

Kamle District shares its boundaries with five districts of Arunachal Pradesh—Papum Pare, Keyi Panyor, Kra Daadi, Upper Subansiri, and Lower Siang—and also shares an interstate border with Assam.
